Residents of Care South’s Castle Dene residential care home in Bournemouth David and Maisie Drew recently celebrated their Diamond Wedding anniversary with a day of entertainment, balloons, table decorations, and a fabulous celebratory cake.

“They were absolutely thrilled – and they’re still smiling!” say staff at Castle Dene.

The couple met on a Young Conservatives bike ride and married in 1951 in Staines, Middlesex. They have been together ever since.

As a young man, David served as a corporal in the Royal Army Ordnance Corps, during which time he was posted to Benghazi in North Africa. Maisie trained as a hairdresser and always used to cut her husband’s hair. David was an Executive at Prudential Insurance, and Maisie later joined the company and became a Clerical Manager. They both remained with Prudential until their retirement.

Maisie and David always enjoyed travelling and have taken holidays at locations around the world. They have delighted in doing things together – going out to lunch, particularly at their local pub, shopping, and going to church.

The couple did not have any children but do have two nephews and two nieces. They have lived at Castle Dene for three years since May 2008.
