- to recognise the unique experience of the individual as a person through ‘person centred care’
- to recognise that each individual has had a life before entering a care home and the importance of their past life experience and events that went into shaping the person and their present lifestyle
- to involve each person as far as possible in designing an individually tailored plan of care which promotes independence and freedom of choice wherever possible.
- to encourage family, friends and special services, where required, to contribute in order to design a ‘package of care’ which best meets the needs of individual to provide a range of mixed choices and options which encourage the person to reminisce, express emotions and enjoy physical and social stimulation
- if cognitive abilities and memory become fragile, to use each person’s identified history, their religious beliefs and their family input to enable us to identify what the individual’s wishes and choices might have been
- to provide appropriately trained and experienced staff to consistently meet our aims and objectives
