Buxton House chef Alex Every has come third in the regional cook-off of the Care Cook of the Year Nutrition Award 2011 organised by the National Association of Care Catering.
Home manager Trisha Ashby-Rudd says: “Alex’s entry was a little controversial as he did a pureed diet meal which had never been done before. Very brave I think, and he did really well to come third!”
The awards were judged by Diane Johnson from Coriander Food Training, who said of Alex’s menu: “Great flavour. The combination of ingredients produced a balanced meal with lots to interest the diner. Good cooking methods”.
Alex, who is a former winner of the Caring Times national Care Chef of the Year, received a Certificate of Achievement.
