Looking to the future

Our company strategy and new developments

The company

Since its inception in 1991 as the Dorset Trust, Care South has become a leading provider of high quality residential, nursing, close care, and home care in the south of England. Of the 16 homes in Dorset which it leases from local councils, the company has rebuilt and acquired 6 of these and plans to do more of the same in the future. In addition Care South has made notable acquisitions in other counties and continued to develop its home care services.

Care South remains consistent, with the ultimate aim of making older people feel safe and well provided for whilst in many cases living with dementia and other related problems associated with ageing. This is, without exception, the main focus of the charity and the trustees formulate their strategy for the future to ensure that it meets the need for those who receive our services either in their own homes or in residential care, mindful always of the client group and not driven by the political environment of the day.

New developments

We are pleased that the acquisition of Two Rivers Investment Ltd has brought to Care South two elegant care homes situated in north Devon. Kenwith Castle, near Bideford, and Fremington Manor, near Barnstaple, are two historically notable houses offering residential and nursing care as well as independent close care accommodation at Kenwith Castle. Both homes enjoy three star 'excellent' CQC ratings, having been run with much care and consideration, and it is the intention of Care South to continue to offer residential, nursing and close care in the same tradition.

Care South is also delighted to announce the completion of the development at Strome Park which provides 11 close care apartments adjacent to the residential and nursing home at Sussexdown in Storrington. If you are interested in more information, or in purchasing or viewing one of the apartments please register here.

Strome Park has given Care South the opportunity to build on the environment already offered by Sussexdown for the care of older people and to extend the provision of residential, nursing and dementia care to embrace independent living. This allows provision for the future by offering the sale of apartments alongside a care environment which can provide, as required, support for the residents' needs whilst enabling them to remain largely independent. Care South believes this is the way of the future, to allow choice without vulnerability. It is the stated intention of the board of Care South to pursue this aim, where financially appropriate and opportune, for the future development of the company and its staff and, therefore, the older population of Southern England.

Building of the 'new' Beauchamp House in Hatch Beauchamp, Somerset, began with the completion of a new wing and the current redevelopment of a further wing which will allow accommodation for some 60 people on its completion in November 2011. This unique and wholly delightful site, which includes the Beauchamp Gardens close care development, accommodates residential and independent older people and offers unparalleled care and opportunity.

Care South is committed to the delivery of quality care for older people, in both the home and residential environment, and continues to explore opportunities to provide further support for the increasing need for nursing and dementia care.
