Local girl Heather Rogers has recently been appointed home manager of the historic Sussexdown nursing home in Storrington.
Heather, a former Senior Nurse Manager for the Surgical Division at Worthing and Southlands hospital, took up the appointment in January and says: “I used to drive past Sussexdown on my way to and from work and thought it looked lovely. I like to work in a nice environment and this is beautiful, full of character. And I can now walk to work!”
Sussexdown is a magnificent house set within beautiful landscaped gardens. A former Royal Air Force Association home, Sussexdown is now owned by Care South and provides high quality residential and nursing care, specialist dementia care, and convalescence and respite breaks for people in the general community.
“This job has given me more variety than any other job, and Care South is an organisation that looks after its staff as well as the people it cares for” says Heather who started nursing in 1984.
Heather’s father was in the RAF and as a child the family lived in a variety of locations around the UK and abroad. She now lives in Storrington with her seven year old son Benjamin and enjoys gardening, her allotment and being out doors.
