The Lord Lieutenant of West Sussex, Susan Pyper, has paid a special visit to Sussexdown residential care home in Storrington where she met residents and staff.
Mrs Pyper was welcomed by the Chairman and Chief Executive of Care South and the manager Sue Bush, and enjoyed a tour of the home which included Princess Alexandra House, a new dementia unit opened by the Princess in 2008. She was also interested in the new Strome Park close care development in the ground of Sussexdown.
During her visit on 3 November, Mrs Pyper spent time talking with residents in the new lounge in the Douglas Bader Wing and then joined them again for sherry before lunch.
“The Lord Lieutenant was unable to accept an invitation to one of Sussexdown’s special events earlier this year, but expressed the wish to visit at another time, and we were delighted to arrange this” said Care South’s Chairman Felicity Irwin.
Sussexdown is a former Royal Airforce Association (RAFA) home and still maintains its connections with the service. The home was purchased in 2007 by Care South, a major provider of residential and home care in southern England.
Mrs Irwin added: “Mrs Pyper said that she enjoyed her visit and was happy to support the home in any way she could in the future”.
