A day on the river for Fairlawn
Residents at Fairlawn have been getting out and about recently, with boat trips on the river, as well as visits to the local pub!
Firstly, a group of residents enjoyed a day out on the water, courtesy of the Friends of Dolphin.
After boarding the specially adapted Dolphin III at Poole Quay, the residents journeyed up the River Frome to Wareham. There was plenty to look at en route, with the beautiful Hardy countryside, as well as other boats on the river. The residents particularly enjoyed waving at passengers on other boats as they passed.
On arrival at the old Saxon port of Wareham, the residents were treated to a delicious fish and chip lunch on board, which was washed down with refreshing cups of tea, supplied by the boat’s crew. Before long, it was time for the return leg to Poole.
Everyone had a fabulous time and are already counting down the days until next year’s trip!
Making the most of a lovely sunny day, two gentlemen residents, Peter and Ron, were treated to a trip the local pub. The duo enjoyed supping on a nice refreshing shandy, accompanied by a bag of crisps as they sat and soaked up the atmosphere. Peter was delighted to be joined at the pub by his wife and a friend, who commented how nice it was to be able to enjoy the occasion together, bringing back fond memories of when they would all go out.
On the stroll back to Fairlawn, Ron, who lived in the town prior to moving to Fairlawn, recounted happy days when he would come to town to do his shopping. Both Ron and Peter agreed it was a brilliant way to spend the morning.
