Dorset House knits Bobby Buddies for Dorset Police

13th June 2018

Residents at Care South’s Dorset House in Hamworthy, Poole having been helping out Dorset Police with their appeal for Bobby Buddies knitted teddy bears.

In response to an appeal from the team at Dorset Police, the residents at Dorset House, assisted by Activities Assistant, Maria Hunt, have been busying themselves knitting teddy bears for young children. The Bobby Buddies will be carried in patrol cars and will be used to comfort young children who are distressed or have experienced a traumatic event.

Paul Beasley, Home Manager at Care South’s Dorset House, said: “When the appeal came in from Dorset Police it certainly tugged at all our heart strings, the ladies got straight to work knitting and have already delivered the first batch to the station, which were gratefully received by Detective James Offer.

“It is wonderful to see how the older generation can help the children in our community and our residents have certainly found a great sense of purpose in helping to comfort these children.”
