Enjoying friendship at Queensmead
Residents at Queensmead welcomed students from Twynham School recently for what has now become a regular visit. The students spent time with the residents taking part in group games, puzzles, arts and crafts, as well as having a good old natter together.
The residents really look forward to these visits and benefit from them enormously, having built up good relationships with the young people. Both staff and residents are really grateful to them for giving up their own time to come to the home.
Residents have been enjoying a new activity called ‘Getting to know you’. A beach ball with questions written on it, such as ‘Have you ever met anyone famous?’ or ‘What is your favourite childhood memory?’ is thrown to one another. The questions prompt residents to talk and find out more about each other, as well as provide a gentle physical activity. This new activity is proving a big hit and has really helped everyone to get to know each other much better.
Making the most of any sunshine, trips to the seaside have also been organised. The residents braved the chilly wind to enjoy some wonderful sea air, before stopping off for coffee and cake at a local cafe.
