Weymouth care home completes 24 hour bikeathon
Staff at Care South’s Buxton House care home in Weymouth, have taken part in a 24 hour bikeathon in order to raise funds for the Residents’ Amenity Fund.
Staff starting cycling at 7am on a Wednesday morning right through until 7am the following morning, with over 20 members of staff taking part, doing a minimum of 30 minutes each on the stationary bike. Staff were cheered on by residents and visitors throughout the day with plenty of water and refreshments available to keep them going.
The team raised £400 towards the Residents’ Amenity Fund, which enables the home to provide residents with regular outings and entertainment sessions to ensure residents remain active and engaged members of their local communities, and retain close connections with the areas where they live. These can include visits to local places of interest, as well as organised activities in the home.
Clare Baker, Home Manager at Care South’s Buxton House, said: “We are really proud of all the staff at Buxton House for taking part in the bikeathon challenge. Everyone in the home really enjoyed getting behind the staff, to keep them encouraged during their amazing cycling efforts. All the funds raised will helps us to provide residents with plenty of engaging activities.”
