This year Wickmeads care home in Bournemouth celebrated St George’s Day in style with a special dinner and entertainment from Domino Music. The residents prepared for the big day by making bunting and special St George’s Day red and white table decorations using red roses, white netting and red tissue paper. Head chef Steve, prepared a menu of Dragon’s Blood Soup, traditional English roast beef with all the trimmings and St George’s Apple Pudding, which was enjoyed by all.
Val Herbert, Wickmead’s activities organizer said “The resident’s lounge was the perfect back drop to the day, with the bunting hanging and the St Georges flag adorning the room. Our chef Steve excelled himself making a delicious St George’s Day cake, decorated with a St George flag. The cake was ceremonially cut and toasted with a glass of buck’s fizz and a rousing speech from our deputy manager, Julie Excell, about the bravery of St George.”
A fantastic day was had by all and the celebrations were topped off with entertainment from Domino Music, with residents participating in ether a sing-a-long or tapping on a tambourine.
