As autumn settled over the picturesque grounds of Kenwith Castle Care Home, our residents embraced the Halloween spirit with a week full of fun, laughter and community activities. From creative crafts to musical performances and seasonal outings, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

A Halloween to Remember

Residents and team members joined together for a series of spook-tacular Halloween celebrations. The week began with a themed trail around the home, where residents followed clues and decorations that brought plenty of smiles and giggles. Our team went the extra mile to transform the home with pumpkins, cobwebs and cheerful spooky décor, creating the perfect atmosphere for everyone to get involved.

No Halloween would be complete without pumpkin carving, and our residents showed their artistic flair as they designed everything from traditional faces to imaginative creations. The laughter around the table said it all. It was a wonderful chance to share stories, enjoy each other’s company and admire everyone’s handiwork.

A Trip to The Big Sheep

One of the week’s highlights was an exciting visit to The Big Sheep, a much-loved local attraction in Bideford. Residents enjoyed meeting the animals, watching the shows and taking in the beautiful countryside views. It was a lovely day out filled with joy, fresh air and great company, reminding us all how important these community connections are to our residents’ wellbeing.

Music, Creativity and Companionship

Back at the home, we were treated to a beautiful performance from the Quartet Choir, whose harmonies filled the room with warmth and nostalgia. Music always brings people together at Kenwith Castle, and there were plenty of toes tapping and smiles all round.

Our popular Knit and Natter Club also kept residents busy and creative, with knitting needles clicking and conversations flowing. The group is a treasured part of life at the home, offering a space where friendships blossom and everyone can share skills, stories and laughter.

A Week of Smiles and Gratitude

The week’s activities captured what makes life at Kenwith Castle so special: togetherness, creativity and the simple joy of shared experiences. It was a true celebration of Food, Fun and Friendship, the values that sit at the heart of everything we do at Care South.

Thank you to our amazing team for organising such a memorable week, and to our residents for filling each day with laughter, warmth and community spirit. ????
