At Fern Brook Lodge, days are filled with meaningful moments that bring joy, connection and a sense of community. Recently, residents enjoyed a wonderful Ladies Day that perfectly captured the spirit of Care South’s “Food, Fun and Friendship” promise.

A morning out in the community

The day began with a lovely outing to a local garden centre, giving residents the opportunity to enjoy a change of scenery and spend time together outside the home.

There was plenty to explore, from colourful plants and seasonal displays to charming gift areas. Residents enjoyed browsing at their own pace, picking out items and sharing conversations along the way. These outings play an important role in supporting independence, confidence and connection to the local community.

An elegant afternoon of celebration

Back at the home, the celebrations continued with a beautifully prepared high tea, created by Head Chef Phil. The dining room was filled with a sense of occasion as residents gathered to enjoy a selection of delicious treats, all thoughtfully presented.

Dressed in their finest outfits and wearing elegant hats, the ladies embraced the spirit of the day, creating a truly special atmosphere. Attention to detail, from the food to the setting, helped make the afternoon feel both memorable and meaningful.

Ladies Day excitement and shared moments

The afternoon also included watching Ladies Day at the Grand National, adding an extra layer of excitement to the celebrations.

Residents joined in the fun by placing friendly bets on who they thought might win, sparking laughter, conversation and a sense of shared anticipation. Moments like these are not just entertaining, they encourage engagement, reminiscence and social connection.

Creating moments that matter

Throughout the day, there was a real sense of enjoyment and togetherness. From the morning outing to the afternoon celebrations, every moment was designed to support wellbeing and bring people together.

At Care South, activities like this are about more than just entertainment. They help residents stay connected, express themselves and continue enjoying the things they love, all within a warm and supportive environment
