A Joyful Day with Animals for Fern Brook Lodge Residents
A Trip to Southwick Animal Petting Park
Residents from Fern Brook Lodge enjoyed a truly memorable day out with a visit to the Southwick Animal Petting Park in Wiltshire. The trip was filled with laughter, smiles, and plenty of opportunities to meet some very friendly animals up close.
Meeting Furry and Feathered Friends
The residents had the chance to feed and cuddle a wonderful variety of animals, from playful goats and gentle donkeys to curious wallabies, emus, and soft rabbits. There was also the chance to see the striking Highland cows and many more animal friends.
The atmosphere was filled with joy as residents interacted with the animals, enjoying the simple pleasures of stroking their soft fur and sharing in the companionship that animals so often bring.
A Day to Treasure
One of the day’s most special moments came from resident Winnie, who at the age of 102 shared:
“It was such a truly wonderful day – at 102 I have definitely enjoyed the day, thank you.”
Her words perfectly captured the spirit of the outing – a reminder that age is no barrier to enjoying new experiences and finding happiness in the company of others.

Fun, Friendship and Lasting Memories
The visit to Southwick Animal Petting Park was more than just a day out; it was a chance for residents to make memories, share laughter, and spend time together in a setting full of life and warmth.
At Fern Brook Lodge, we are proud to provide opportunities that enrich the lives of our residents, creating days filled with fun, friendship and meaningful experiences. The smiles from this outing said it all – it was truly a day to remember.
