A MARVELous Day at Alexandra House: Celebrating Our Superheroes
At Alexandra House, our team truly went above and beyond to make this year’s Care South Stars Awards one to remember. Held on Wednesday 4 June, the home was transformed into a celebration of all things super, with a superhero theme that brought out plenty of smiles, laughter and well-deserved recognition.
The event brought together management, staff, residents and their families for an afternoon full of joy and appreciation. Staff donned superhero capes and masks, creating a fun and colourful atmosphere that had everyone grinning. “You all look Incredible!” one resident remarked, and the compliments just kept coming.
The awards ceremony began with heartfelt nominations, highlighting the dedication and passion of the Alexandra House team. There were cheers, claps and a few happy tears as names were read out and stories of kindness and commitment were shared.
Home Manager Lana expressed her gratitude by presenting every nominee with a bottle of bubbly prosecco and a gift card, adding a personal touch that meant a great deal to the team. She said, “It’s important to take a moment to thank our staff, who give their all every single day. Today we celebrate them.”
Chef Nathan and the kitchen team made sure the celebration was a delicious one too, preparing an impressive buffet spread that was enjoyed by all. From savoury bites to sweet treats, their hard work certainly didn’t go unnoticed.
Each staff member also received a superhero-themed goodie bag filled with treats including Heroes chocolates, a fun straw, a notebook and pencil, and a star-shaped keyring with the message “You’re a star, keep shining.”
The atmosphere was warm and uplifting throughout. Resident Rosemary summed it up beautifully when she said, “It is lovely to see you all being recognised for your hard work.” Margaret added, “I’m so happy your activities team were nominated; I would have voted for you too!”
It was a MARVELous afternoon that left everyone smiling. A true celebration of the everyday heroes who make Alexandra House such a special place to live and work.
