On 26 February, residents from Elizabeth House enjoyed a truly heart warming morning in the local community, filled with appreciation, storytelling and friendship.

Thanking Our Guardian Angel

Before heading out, we took the opportunity to continue spreading love and kindness to someone very special to us, our guardian angel Ricky, our wonderful bus driver. Over the years, Ricky has taken residents on so many memorable trips, always with patience, warmth and a smile.

As a small token of our gratitude, we presented him with daffodils and an inspirational card to say thank you for all the lovely outings we have shared together. It was a simple gesture, but one filled with heartfelt appreciation.

A Visit to Tesco Fleetsbridge

On this particular day, Ricky took Yvonne and Peter C to Tesco Fleetsbridge, where Theresa Mann, the store’s Community Champion, is organising a Knit, Crochet and Natter morning every other Thursday in their Community Room.

Theresa’s kindness and thoughtful welcome immediately made everyone feel at ease. Hot drinks were offered, along with delicious cakes, creating a warm and friendly setting for conversation.

Yvonne spent time talking about the wide range of activities we enjoy at Elizabeth House, proudly sharing how important creativity, companionship and engagement are in daily life at the home. Peter chatted about his colouring, speaking with real enthusiasm about how much he enjoys it, and he also shared stories from his time serving as a police officer in Poole, which were listened to with great interest.

Sharing Stories and Spreading Joy

The morning was a beautiful reminder of how powerful community connections can be. From thanking Ricky for his years of dedication, to joining Theresa’s welcoming group at Tesco, it was a day centred on appreciation, conversation and kindness.

Residents agreed it was a really lovely way to spend the morning, sharing beautiful stories and feeling part of something special beyond the home.
