A Morning of Reflection and Remembrance for St Ives House Residents

Residents and staff from St Ives House came together this morning to mark Remembrance Sunday, joining the local community in Ringwood for a heartfelt morning of reflection and gratitude. It was a moving occasion filled with togetherness, warmth, and remembrance.

The day began with a peaceful walk around Ringwood town centre, where residents enjoyed the fresh autumn air and the sound of church bells in the distance. A stop at a local café offered the perfect opportunity to relax with a warming cup of coffee and a slice of locally baked cake, while sharing stories and memories of past services and family traditions.

Afterwards, everyone gathered to join the Remembrance parade outside the local church before making their way to the memorial gardens for the service. Surrounded by the community, the group took time to reflect and pay tribute to all those who have served and continue to serve.

A highlight for many was the beautiful display of hand-knitted poppies outside the community centre, lovingly created by the local WI division. Resident Ken was particularly moved by the purple poppies, crafted in honour of the animals who supported the war efforts — a touching reminder of the many unsung heroes.

Residents agreed it was a truly special morning, bringing people together in remembrance and gratitude. It was a chance to pause, reflect, and give thanks to all who have given so much, while sharing in the warmth of community spirit.
