A Morning Trip to Haskins Garden Centre
On Wednesday 10, some of our wonderful residents from Marjorie House enjoyed a delightful morning trip to Haskins Garden Centre. The sun was shining as we set off, and spirits were high with everyone looking forward to a change of scenery and the chance to be surrounded by plants and flowers.
The group had a lovely time exploring the garden centre, admiring the wide variety of plants on display. One of our residents, who previously ran a nursery and garden centre, was especially knowledgeable. With a twinkle in his eye, he shared fascinating details about many of the plants — often identifying them before we had even read the labels! It was a joy to see his passion come to life and to hear his expertise shared with others.
A Relaxing Pause in the Café
After enjoying the displays of plants and soaking in the colourful sights, everyone headed inside to the café for a well-earned rest. Over hot drinks and friendly conversation, the group reflected on the plants they’d seen and enjoyed the welcoming atmosphere of the garden centre.

A Morning to Remember
The trip was thoroughly enjoyed by all who came along. It offered the perfect combination of gentle exercise, fresh air, and social connection — as well as the chance to learn something new from a fellow resident’s gardening experience.
At Marjorie House, outings like these are a wonderful way to make the most of our local community and give residents the opportunity to enjoy their passions, share their memories, and spend quality time together.
