A New Men’s Club Brings Purpose and Connection to St Ives House
At St Ives House, a wonderful new initiative is bringing residents together in a meaningful and engaging way, as the gentlemen of the home proudly launch their very own Men’s Club.
Created as a space for connection, creativity and shared purpose, the Men’s Club offers residents the opportunity to come together regularly to work on hands-on projects. Not only do these activities provide enjoyment and a sense of achievement, but they are also designed to benefit the wider community within the home.
The group began their journey with an exciting trip to B&Q, where they carefully selected the tools and materials needed to bring their first project to life. The outing itself was a fantastic opportunity to get out and about, share ideas and build anticipation for what was to come.
Back at St Ives House, the gentlemen have already begun working on their first creation, a sensory board. This thoughtful project is being designed with other residents in mind, with the aim of providing meaningful stimulation and positive engagement once completed. Sensory boards can offer a range of benefits, particularly for individuals living with dementia, supporting wellbeing through touch, familiarity and interaction.
There has been a real sense of pride and teamwork as the project has taken shape, with each resident contributing their ideas, skills and enthusiasm. Ken and Mike, who are both part of the group, are already looking forward to the next session, where they will continue building and developing the board.
Initiatives like the Men’s Club reflect the heart of life at St Ives House, where residents are encouraged to stay active, pursue their interests and make a meaningful contribution to their community. It’s about creating opportunities for connection, purpose and enjoyment, all within a warm and supportive environment.
At Care South, we believe in creating moments that matter through food, fun and friendship, and the Men’s Club is a perfect example of how shared experiences can bring people together and enrich everyday life.
