At St Ives House, we are always looking for ways to create meaningful experiences that bring people together. Yesterday afternoon was a truly special occasion, filled with nostalgia, storytelling and shared joy.

A Visit from the Austin 7 Club

We were delighted to welcome members of the Austin 7 Club to the home, who kindly brought along a wonderful collection of classic cars to showcase to our residents.

The beautifully restored vehicles sparked immediate interest and excitement, with residents enjoying the opportunity to see these timeless cars up close, admire the craftsmanship and learn more about their history.

A Personal and Very Special Moment

What made the afternoon even more special was a personal connection for one of our residents, Peter. One of the cars on display was his very own, which he had built himself.

It was a proud and emotional moment for both Peter and his wife to see the car back on display at St Ives House, surrounded by fellow residents and friends. Moments like these are incredibly powerful, celebrating not only memories but personal achievements and life stories.

Sharing Memories and Stories

The visit inspired many residents to reflect on their own memories, with stories flowing naturally throughout the afternoon. One resident fondly shared how they remembered going on their very first date in an Austin 7, bringing a smile to everyone around them.

Reminiscence is such an important part of wellbeing, especially for those living with dementia. Activities that connect people to their past can provide comfort, spark conversation and help strengthen a sense of identity and belonging.

Coffee, Cake and Community

Following the showcase, everyone came together in the bistro to enjoy coffee and cake. The conversations continued, with laughter and shared stories filling the room.

These moments of togetherness reflect the heart of life at St Ives House, where community, connection and companionship are part of everyday life.

Creating Moments That Matter

At Care South, we are proud to create opportunities that bring joy, spark memories and strengthen connections between residents, families and the wider community. Afternoons like this remind us just how important it is to celebrate each person’s story and create experiences that truly matter.
