Residents at St Ives House were overjoyed to welcome back a very special guest this month — Mr Kelloggs, the much-loved miniature horse, who stands proudly at just 29 inches tall.

Mr Kelloggs is a regular visitor to the home as part of the ongoing animal therapy programme, which brings residents the joy and comfort of spending time with friendly, well-trained animals. Each visit from Mr Kelloggs is eagerly anticipated, and his calm, gentle nature always makes a wonderful impression.

As he trotted gracefully through the home, stopping to visit residents in their rooms and the lounge areas, there were smiles all around. The sight of Mr Kelloggs’ soft mane and bright eyes never fails to lift spirits and spark conversation. Many residents were delighted to stroke his glossy coat and chat about their own memories of animals they had cared for over the years.

One resident, Ken, a keen animal lover, was particularly delighted by the surprise visit. “I could not believe it when Mr Kelloggs walked in,” he said. “It was such a lovely surprise, and I was amazed by how well behaved he was.”

Mr Kelloggs’ visits are more than just enjoyable — they bring real emotional benefits to residents. His calming presence helps create a peaceful and positive atmosphere, while the shared experience encourages conversation, laughter, and connection among residents and staff alike.

The team at St Ives House look forward to each visit from Mr Kelloggs, knowing that his presence brings warmth, comfort, and joy to everyone he meets. His next appearance is already eagerly awaited, and there’s no doubt he’ll receive a warm welcome from his many fans across the home.
