Residents at Buxton House enjoyed a memorable Burns Night celebration, filled with tradition, music and togetherness. The evening began with the much anticipated haggis ceremony, setting a respectful and celebratory tone for the occasion.

Honouring Scottish Tradition

The sound of a piper filled the room as the haggis was brought in, creating a real sense of ceremony. This was followed by the traditional Address to a Haggis, a ceremonial tribute written by Robert Burns, Scotland’s national poet. Residents listened with interest as the poem was recited, enjoying the richness of the tradition and its meaning.

Tasting Burns Night Favourites

Once the haggis had been addressed, residents were invited to sample it alongside classic Scottish shortbread and a small dram of whisky. The tasting proved very popular, with residents enjoying the chance to experience traditional flavours and share their thoughts and memories.

Music, Dancing and Shared Enjoyment

The celebrations continued with Scottish dancing, bringing smiles, laughter and gentle movement to the room. The atmosphere was warm and sociable, with residents clearly enjoying being part of the occasion.

Valerie and Janet kindly shared their thanks afterwards, saying they had both had a really nice time, a sentiment reflected across the room.
