A Trip Down Memory Lane for Sybil at the Dorchester Book Fayre
On 25 October, our lovely resident Sybil from Maiden Castle House enjoyed a very special outing to the Dorchester Book Fayre, where she was able to relive fond memories of her time working as a secretary at the event many years ago.
The visit was filled with nostalgia as Sybil explored the stalls, browsing through a wide selection of books and displays about Thomas Hardy and local history. She was thrilled to see how much the fayre had grown and evolved over the years, and the staff were delighted to stop and chat with her about her memories of helping to organise the event in the past.
One of the most touching moments came when Sybil discovered a book titled The Image of China. She excitedly turned to Linda, our Activities Assistant, and said, “Look, I found a book for us to look at together!” Knowing that Linda is from China, this small but heartfelt gesture made the moment extra special.
It was a wonderful day full of conversation, memories and discovery. Sybil said she thoroughly enjoyed herself and found the visit “very interesting.” Everyone agreed it was lovely to see her reconnect with a part of her past and share such a meaningful experience.
