A Wonderful Day at the Bournemouth Oceanarium
A Sea of Smiles and Discovery
Residents from Dorset House recently enjoyed an exciting day out to the Bournemouth Oceanarium, where they spent the day surrounded by fascinating marine life and plenty of smiles. The visit was both fun and educational, offering residents the chance to get up close with some of the ocean’s most incredible creatures.
Feeding Time Fun
The day’s highlights included watching the playful penguins being fed, as well as the famous sea turtle, Carrie, tucking into her lunch. Residents also had the chance to see the eels during their feeding time, which sparked plenty of curiosity and conversation about the animals’ different diets and behaviours.

Under the Sea Experience
A walk through the underwater tunnel was a truly memorable moment, giving everyone a chance to come face-to-face with a mesmerising variety of sea life. The sight of sharks gliding overhead left everyone in awe, and there were plenty of “oohs” and “aahs” as colourful fish swam all around.
A Picnic with a View
After exploring the exhibits, residents enjoyed a picnic lunch together — complete with a unique view of the penguins through the glass. It was the perfect way to relax, share stories, and reflect on all the wonderful sights of the day.
Food, Fun and Friendship
The visit to the Oceanarium was a day filled with learning, laughter, and connection, perfectly capturing the Care South values of food, fun and friendship. Everyone agreed it was a fantastic experience — one to remember for a long time to come.
