On Wednesday 15th July, everyone from Care South’s residential care homes, Care at Home offices and Head Office was able to come together – over Zoom – to enjoy an afternoon of recognition and entertainment.
Normally at this time of year, Care South holds its annual Stars Awards. However, this year we celebrated our 2020 All Stars Awards to that everyone at Care South has gone above and beyond in 2020, ensuring that all our resident and Care at Home clients have stayed safe and well cared for throughout the Coronavirus pandemic.
Care South’s Chairman, Felicity Irwin DL, and Chief Executive, Simon Bird hosted the event. Care South’s Director of residential care, was delighted to receive the ‘Home of the Year’ cup on behalf of all Care South’s residential care and nursing homes. In its first year, the Care at Home cup was presented to Martin Ross, Director of Care at Home, to share amongst all Care at Home offices.
After the online entertainment and formalities, everyone at Care South – colleagues, residents and Care at Home clients – was able to celebrate at their locations with a company-wide tea party.
During the online All Stars Awards, everyone was able to share in a review of the year; a rendition of ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ by the Talbot View care home choir; and the Care South Anthem, written by the Chairman, Felicity Irwin DL, and performed by her grandson, Arthur.
The afternoon was a fitting tribute to the remarkable efforts of everyone at Care South in keeping themselves and those they care for safe.
In January, Felicity Irwin announced that she would be stepping down from her role as Chairman in July. This year’s All Stars Awards was therefore her last after 30 years as a trustee, some 20 of which were as Chairman of Care South. Simon Bird paid tribute to Felicity’s very considerable contribution to Care South and was delighted to present her with a special Stars Award on behalf of a very grateful organisation.
