Volunteering for Care South

Volunteering can be a rewarding experience for both the volunteer and residents.

Volunteers form a valuable part of a care home’s team as they can assist residents with particular activities or skills such as:

  • knitting
  • reading
  • singing
  • bingo
  • supporting specific residents with their interests and hobbies
  • assist with outings or
  • meet with residents to have a chat or talk about current events

As a volunteer, whether carrying out regular activities or visiting residents for a chat, you can help improve the quality of life and wellbeing for our residents as having visitors makes them feel special and adds new dimensions and interests to their lives.

Care South welcomes volunteers of all ages and from all walks of life. As well as gaining a sense of community and an insight into the lives of others, people who volunteer can develop skills which may be useful in higher education or future career opportunities.

If you are interested in making a difference to the lives of our residents and you have some time available to volunteer in one of our homes, whether this is for a few hours now and again or on a more frequent basis, then please refer to the our homes page and contact the home you are interested in volunteering at for an informal chat and perhaps arrange a visit to one of our homes to find out if volunteering is for you.

Care South will reimburse volunteers for out of pocket expenses and will provide training and support in volunteer duties. Please note that due to the nature of the Company’s business before undertaking any volunteering all volunteers are required to undertake a criminal records check with the Disclosure and Barring Service.
