St. Patrick’s Day was celebrated in style at Alexandra House. The staff dressed in their finest green attire, and the building was filled with lively leprechauns. The day began with Irish Jigs, balloon tennis, and a touch of Riverdance, all accompanied by plenty of laughter. The residents thoroughly enjoyed the festivities. Tony was a true gentleman, dancing enthusiastically with Head Housekeeper Jagoda, who sported a delightful leprechaun costume, while Niki, the Activities Lead, spun them around to the music. Tony fully embraced the spirit of Irish music, even attempting his own version of Riverdance.

In honour of Pat, who humorously declared, “I am Pat” when greeted for St. Patrick’s Day, the celebration was playfully renamed “Pat’s Day.” Pat, along with Maureen and Rita, found the staff’s ‘balloon’ dance so amusing that they were brought to tears with laughter.

Later, everyone was captivated as they watched the Original Riverdance performance on TV. Gill, a former dancer, was particularly enthralled, and her husband proudly shared that she had trained as a ballerina in her youth.

The evening saw the opening of the famous ‘Lucky Leaf’ Irish Pub, welcoming residents, families, and friends for a spectacular quiz night. The quiz, consisting of three parts — questions, famous faces, and famous places — brought everyone together in teams. Drinks such as Guinness, Guinness punch, Baileys, and whiskey added to the festive atmosphere. The winners were determined by a tiebreaker question after three teams scored evenly. The victorious team selected prizes from a variety of goodies.

Irish traditional music played throughout the event, and the evening was complemented by a fantastic feast. Guests enjoyed a hearty Irish stew with Colcannon mash, followed by delectable green cupcakes. The day was filled with #FoodFunFriendship, making it an unforgettable celebration at Alexandra House.
