Buxton House residents celebrate the colours of autumn with arts and crafts
Residents at Care South’s Buxton House in Weymouth recently enjoyed a vibrant afternoon of autumn-themed arts and crafts, bringing the rich colours of the season to life on paper.
Peggy, Christine, Mary, Barbara and Mabel all took part in the relaxed creative session, using warm seasonal shades including orange, red, brown and green to produce a colourful collection of autumn-inspired artwork.
Creating seasonal artwork together
Residents painted a variety of familiar autumn scenes and characters, including foxes, leaves, acorns, squirrels and toadstools.
The activity gave everyone the opportunity to be creative at their own pace, while enjoying the calm and sociable atmosphere of working alongside friends.
As the pictures began to take shape, the session quickly became about much more than painting.
Memories, laughter and conversation
The autumn theme sparked plenty of joyful conversation, with residents sharing memories of previous autumns and talking about the sights, colours and experiences they associate with the season.
There was lots of laughter throughout the afternoon, helping to create a warm and friendly atmosphere for everyone involved.
Activities like this can also support concentration, memory and mental stimulation, while giving residents a sense of achievement as they see their finished creations.
