Residential and care at home provider and registered charity, Care South, has donated £1,000 to The Church of the Transfiguration.

Parishioners at the church on Chaddesley Glen, within the parish of Canford Cliffs and Sandbanks, have formed close links with residents of all faiths at Marjorie House care home, which is run by the not-for-profit care provider. This includes running in-house church services for the residents and their families to enjoy, as well as parishioners attending activities in the home, such as the weekly ‘Knit and Natter’ sessions and other events held for the community throughout the year.

The Church of the Transfiguration is the latest beneficiary of Care South’s Community Fund, which gives back to community groups, services and organisations which directly benefit Care South’s care home residents, care at home clients, or staff.

Reverend Andrew O’Brien, who leads The Church of the Transfiguration, said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive this donation from Care South’s Community Fund. We always receive a warm welcome whenever we visit, and it is a pleasure to be involved with the home’s activities and events, as well as enabling residents to explore their Christian faith. Our links with Marjorie House have grown from strength to strength over the years, and we feel very fortunate to be able to spend time with the residents and be part of the community at the home.”

Care South’s Community Fund donation was presented to Reverend Andrew O’Brien, alongside a host of the church’s parishioners by Simon Bird, CEO of Care South, with assistance from Georgie Powell, Home Manager at Marjorie House, and Gill Bailey, Deputy Manager.

Simon Bird, CEO of Care South, said: “Our Community Fund enables us to support organisations that make a positive difference to the communities we are part of, and we are delighted to be able to contribute to the church in this way. It is fantastic to see the close relationship that has developed between The Church of the Transfiguration and Marjorie House. The church is closely connected with our residents and contributes so much to life at the home, so we are pleased to recognise its involvement through the Community Fund.”
