Castle Dene Residents Enjoy Comfort, Connection and Community Through Fortnightly Church Services
Residents at Castle Dene, look forward to a very special visitor every other Thursday, when Reverend Ed from St Barnabas & St John’s Church visits the home to lead a warm and welcoming church service.
The fortnightly gatherings provide an opportunity for residents, relatives and members of the team to come together in a peaceful and familiar setting to share in worship, reflection and companionship. Each service includes traditional hymns, prayers, a short service and Holy Communion, offering comfort and continuity to those who have long valued their faith.
For many residents, the services are an important part of maintaining lifelong traditions and staying connected to their beliefs. Family members are also warmly invited to attend, making the occasion even more meaningful as loved ones gather together to share these special moments.
Understanding that not everyone is able to attend the communal service, Reverend Ed also takes time to visit residents who remain in their rooms. Sitting alongside each person, he offers prayers, conversation and Holy Communion where appropriate, ensuring nobody misses the opportunity to take part.
His gentle, unhurried approach has become something residents eagerly anticipate.
The Castle Dene team says there is always a noticeable lift in spirits when Reverend Ed arrives, with many residents’ faces lighting up as he spends time chatting and praying with them individually.
The visits are just one of the many ways Castle Dene supports residents’ emotional, spiritual and social wellbeing, recognising that person-centred care extends beyond physical health to embrace every aspect of an individual’s life.
