Celebrating World Arts Day at Marjorie House
A Day of Creativity and Connection
Last Wednesday, residents at Marjorie House came together to celebrate World Arts Day with a joyful programme of activities that highlighted creativity, companionship, and fun.
Painting and Crafts in the Morning
The day began with a relaxing arts and crafts session, where residents explored their artistic side through painting. With brushes in hand and warm drinks to enjoy, the morning was filled with conversation, laughter, and the simple pleasure of creating something beautiful. It was a lovely opportunity for residents to share ideas, socialise, and express themselves in a calm and cheerful setting.
Knit and Natter in the Afternoon
In the afternoon, the celebrations continued with our much-loved Welcome Wednesday Knit and Natter in the Captain’s Club. Residents were joined by the kind ladies from the Church of the Transfiguration, who spent time knitting alongside us. Together, the group worked on colourful patches for our second minibus blanket, which is almost complete and will soon keep everyone warm and cosy on our winter outings.
Halfway through, we paused for tea, coffee, and slices of cake – the perfect pick-me-up before continuing with the knitting. The room was full of chatter, smiles, and the comforting click of knitting needles.

A Wonderful Day Together
World Arts Day was the perfect occasion to showcase the creativity and sense of community here at Marjorie House. Residents thoroughly enjoyed the day, whether painting in the morning or knitting in the afternoon, and left with a sense of achievement and connection.
Our Knit and Natter sessions continue to run every Wednesday from 2–4pm, offering a regular opportunity for residents to relax, socialise, and create together.
At Marjorie House, days like these capture the very best of food, fun and friendship – celebrating talents, sparking conversations, and creating lasting memories.
