Dorset House care home celebrates the Stars Awards with panache!
Activity Lead Sam wites “We had a great time celebrating the star award nominations here at Dorset House.
To ensure we celebrated our fantastic staff we rolled out the red carpet for all the staff and residents. With each member of staff seeing their name on the Hollywood walk of fame, on a film strip, as well as on a Hollywood floor tile.
We enjoyed fantastic BBQ food in the sunshine along with music to get everyone singing and dancing along. No Hollywood premier would be complete without a photoshoot. We had a great time dressing up in finery: staff, residents, and family members all together.
We awarded the staff with a bottle of bubbly, their own chocolate Oscar, and certificates, all of which were adorned with fantastic comments from those we care for.
Just to add to the party spirit we couldn’t resist a raffle for the staff to win some more lovely prizes. The residents were really pleased to help us celebrate and share their thanks with the staff for all they do.

We also took the opportunity to thank our wonderful volunteers who work with Sam and Amy on the Activities team. Shirley and Pat are an asset to the team and allow us to offer trips and walks to more people. Shirley and Pat are so helpful and go above and beyond, even sharing their craft and knitting skills with the residents. To show them how much they mean to use we awarded them with the same treats as the staff along with an afternoon tea voucher and flowers.
