Residents at Elizabeth House in Poole enjoyed taking a walk down memory lane as they gathered to reflect on a busy and exciting month of activities, sharing favourite moments and celebrating the friendships and experiences that made July so special.

At the end of every month, residents and team members come together to look back through photographs, reminisce and talk about the memories they have created. The monthly reflection session has become a much-loved tradition, giving everyone the chance to celebrate the highlights of the past few weeks.

July began in style with a Fourth of July-themed barbecue to celebrate Yvonne’s birthday. Residents enjoyed delicious food, lively entertainment from Jewels Harmony, fun games and even an eating competition, creating plenty of laughter and smiles throughout the day.

As the conversation continued, residents reflected on some of the new experiences they had enjoyed during the month. Maureen and Peter T agreed that one of the standout moments was taking the helm of the Friends of Dolphins boat and enjoying the opportunity to steer around Poole Harbour.

Music and movement also featured heavily throughout the month. Residents enjoyed an energetic chair drumming session using yoga balls and drumsticks, with Zia and David sharing how much they had enjoyed trying something different while keeping active and having fun together.

For tennis fan Fran, Wimbledon Day was a particular highlight. Alongside watching the famous tournament, residents celebrated with a traditional cream tea, refreshing Pimm’s and a wonderful performance from Sasha and Wendy of The Green Room, creating a memorable afternoon inspired by one of Britain’s most iconic sporting events.

Getting out into the local community remains an important part of life at Elizabeth House. Jean smiled as she looked at photographs from a recent visit to Muddy Boots Nursery, saying that spending time out and about and making new memories with friends is something she always looks forward to.

Maria fondly remembered a visit to one of the home’s favourite local cafés, The Café at Trinity Village, where residents enjoyed coffee, conversation and an arts and crafts session in a warm and welcoming setting.

Meanwhile, Cindy reflected on a relaxing picnic in the park, sharing how much she enjoys spending time outdoors, watching the birds and admiring the colourful flowers during the summer months.

Looking back on the photographs, Peter C summed up the month perfectly, saying:

“July was busy, but it was so much fun. I’m looking forward to seeing what great events we organise next.”

The monthly reflection session highlighted not only the variety of activities enjoyed by residents, but also the friendships, laughter and shared experiences that make life at Elizabeth House so special. Whether celebrating birthdays, learning new skills, enjoying music, exploring the local community or simply spending time together, every activity is designed to promote wellbeing, independence and meaningful moments.

At Elizabeth House, every month brings new opportunities to create lasting memories, and the team are already looking forward to another exciting programme of activities in the weeks ahead.
