Falls Prevention Awareness at Marjorie House with Six Physio
Residents at Marjorie House were joined by two members of the team from Six Physio as part of Falls Prevention Awareness Week. The session began with a fascinating talk that everyone found both engaging and informative. The team explained the different factors that can contribute to falls and emphasised the importance of staying active.
The Importance of Exercise
One key message was that 150 minutes of exercise per week can play a crucial role in maintaining strength, balance, and mobility – all of which are vital in reducing the risk of falls. Residents were encouraged by this positive and practical advice, which highlighted how small, regular steps can make a big difference to overall wellbeing.
Hands-On Activities
In the second half of the afternoon, residents were invited to join in with some gentle exercises using small yoga and exercise balls. These simple but effective activities were designed to help build coordination and strength, while also being enjoyable and inclusive for everyone who wanted to take part.

A Positive Experience for All
The afternoon was not only educational but also interactive, leaving residents with both new knowledge and a boost of confidence in the importance of staying active. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the session, which perfectly captured our commitment to food, fun and friendship alongside supporting residents’ health and wellbeing.
We’d like to say a big thank you to the Six Physio team for joining us and helping make Falls Prevention Awareness Week such a success at Marjorie House.
