Residents at Fern Brook Lodge enjoyed an uplifting afternoon of music, friendship and homemade cake when they were joined by Dementia Friendly Gillingham for their monthly Sing a Song of Praise session.
The regular gathering at the Care South care home in Gillingham brings residents together with members of the local community to enjoy music and conversation in a warm and relaxed setting.
Residents sing favourite hymns and songs
During the afternoon, residents joined Annie and Keith from Dementia Friendly Gillingham in singing a selection of much-loved hymns and popular songs.
Music and singing are a familiar part of life at Fern Brook Lodge, offering residents an enjoyable opportunity to reminisce, socialise and share memories together.
The session finished with refreshments and a homemade cake specially prepared by the home’s Head Chef, giving everyone the chance to continue chatting and spending time together.
Residents Dianne and Margaret said they had a lovely afternoon and were already looking forward to the next Sing a Song of Praise session.
Building friendships in the Gillingham community
The sessions take place on the last Friday of each month and have become a popular date in the Fern Brook Lodge calendar, with residents enjoying the opportunity to catch up with Annie and Keith and sing together.
Fern Brook Lodge has developed a strong relationship with Dementia Friendly Gillingham, which also provides opportunities for residents to take part in activities within the wider community.
