Residents at Dorset House were treated to a heart-warming surprise when Spike and Salem, Jelena’s adorable eight-month-old cats, came to spend the afternoon with us. Their visit filled the home with smiles, gentle purrs and a lovely sense of calm and companionship.

The pair were more than happy to tour the home, and we made sure to stop by residents’ bedrooms so that everyone who wished could enjoy a cuddle. Many residents were delighted to hold and stroke the cats, who proved to be wonderfully friendly and patient. Their gentle nature brought both comfort and laughter, creating a sweet connection with everyone they met.

The visit ended in the lounge, where Spike and Salem once again found themselves eagerly welcomed into waiting arms. Residents chatted away as the cats settled in for more fuss and affection, sparking warm memories and lovely conversations about pets they had owned in years gone by.

Moments like this remind us of the incredible impact that animals can have in a care home environment. Their presence brings companionship, reduces stress and lifts spirits in a way that feels natural and deeply comforting.

Spike and Salem certainly made the afternoon a special one and we look forward to welcoming them back to Dorset House again soon.
