Game, Set, Match! Wimbledon Hits Buxton House
It was rackets at the ready as Buxton House embraced the start of Wimbledon with a sun-soaked day of tennis, laughter and connection. The garden became centre court for a celebration filled with sporting spirit and community joy, proving once again that Food, Fun and Friendship are at the heart of everything we do.
Tennis, Sunshine and Shared Moments
Residents were delighted to welcome Clive and Leo from the Weymouth Lawn Tennis Club, who brought not only their rackets but also plenty of encouragement and coaching tips. Their visit kicked off the festivities, and the sound of laughter soon echoed across the garden as residents joined in – whether swinging a racket or cheering enthusiastically from the sidelines.
The day’s highlight came as residents from Fairlawn joined us for a friendly inter-home match. The sun was shining, the atmosphere was full of camaraderie, and everyone gave it their all. Buxton House claimed victory with a score of 4–love, but the true success lay in the shared experience and the friendships formed on and off the court.
Strawberries, Pimm’s and Plenty of Smiles
No Wimbledon-themed day would be complete without a nod to tradition. After the match, everyone gathered to enjoy bowls of strawberries and cream, served alongside refreshing glasses of Pimm’s in the garden. The afternoon continued with a delicious lunch and time to relax, reflect, and soak up the sunshine.
More Than a Game
This special event brought residents, staff and visitors together in a celebration of movement, community and fun. From the first serve to the final cheer, it was a day to remember – full of laughter, connection, and the joy of simply being together.
