Growing with Purpose: Courgette Planting at Beauchamp House

At Beauchamp House, gardening is more than just a hobby – it’s a way to connect with nature, share in meaningful activity, and give back to the local community. Recently, our residents rolled up their sleeves and got planting, this time focusing on courgette plants with a special goal in mind.

Planting for the Harvest

With the sun shining and soil ready, residents gathered in our garden to plant a selection of courgette seedlings, carefully placing each one with the hope that, in a few months’ time, we’ll be able to donate freshly grown produce to our local Harvest Festival.

The planting session was filled with conversation and memories, as residents shared their experiences of gardening, harvests, and homegrown meals. There’s something especially rewarding about seeing new life grow – and knowing it will one day benefit others in need.

A Shared Effort for a Shared Cause

The idea to donate our courgettes to the local Harvest Festival came from our residents themselves, who were keen to contribute to a cause that supports local food banks and community groups. It’s a perfect reflection of our values at Care South – bringing people together through Food, Fun and Friendship, and finding joy in acts of kindness.

As one resident put it:

“It feels good to know that something we’ve grown with care could help someone else this autumn.”

Looking Ahead

Now, we’ll nurture our courgette plants over the coming weeks with plenty of water, sunshine, and attention – and we’re already excited to see how they grow. With every leaf and blossom, this project reminds us how small efforts can make a meaningful impact.
