Buxton House is a friendly, social care home located near the historic Jurassic Coast in Weymouth, as well as being a short trip away from the town centre.
There are a number of large lounges where group activities are held, as well as smaller, more peaceful areas to relax or meet with relatives and friends. Buxton House also has a garden and courtyard where green-fingered residents can get involved or sit in the sun by the fish pond.
Buxton House has 64 en-suite single bedrooms, divided into four wings to ensure compassionate, person-centre care. Facilities have been designed to support residents living with dementia socialise and engage with their new home. There is an on-site hair salon and the care home neighbours Westhaven Community Hospital.
We know looking for a care home can be a difficult process, but you are not alone. Please fill out an enquiry form or give us a call and we would be happy to guide you through the process, answer any questions and talk you through life at Buxton House.
We have adapted our admissions process to meet the challenges of COVID-19 and help new and existing residents stay safe. You can find out more about these changes in our Assisi Admissions Plan by clicking here.
We put our residents at the heart of everything we do, and know that no two are the same. That is why we get to know residents and their life stories, hobbies and interests, helping us to create events around their likes.
Our activities team organises daily event and outings designed to bring everyone together in a fun and friendly atmosphere, and have recently included safari holiday with the aid of virtual reality, the Buxton House Olympics, and animal therapy visits.
The Daily Sparkle
We are also supported by The Daily Sparkle, a newspaper and app featuring news stories from the past and familiar activities. Using these resources has opened up conversations for our less sociable residents. Click here to find out more.

“Being a care home chef is a real pleasure. I feel it’s important to get to know the residents, understand their likes and preferences when it comes to the menu.” – Nick Wrightson, Buxton House chef
Meals are more than just the food on the plate, they bring people together. At Buxton House, residents meet for meal times in our relaxed and comfortable dining rooms, with wholesome, well-balanced meals.
We talk to residents to help create flexible menus around their likes and needs, also working within any special dietary requirements. Snacks and afternoon teas are also available to residents.
Krzysztof ‘Chris’ Kowalski – Acting Home Manager
I started my career in care 11 years ago and have spent much of that time with Care South. I have been lucky enough to receive outstanding training and support that has allowed me to grow from a care assistant to an acting home manager.
It’s my job to ensure residents and colleagues have a smile on their face every day, and enjoy a positive and happy environment at Buxton House.
Although we can’t welcome you for a look around our care homes just yet, you can still view inside thanks to our remote tours.
To ensure our care homes remain free from COVID-19, our helpful Home Managers can guide you around during a video call, so you get a feel of what life is like with Care South.
Simply fill out the form below and we will be in touch to discuss how we can create a new home for you or a loved one with peace of mind.
