Care provided at Castle Dene:

Castle Dene has a number of light, spacious and charmingly furnished lounges and communal areas, including our gorgeous conservatory, all of which provide the perfect place for residents to socialise with friends and loved ones, or simply relax with a cup of tea and a slice of cake. Additionally, our large and beautifully landscaped garden, often tended to by our green-fingered residents, provides a peaceful and tranquil space for residents to enjoy. Residents also have full use of our on-site hair salon.

Castle Dene has 50 welcoming and comfortable, fully furnished rooms, each containing a 24-hour nurse call bell, ensuring residents are comfortable, safe and expertly cared for. We give all our residents support and peace of mind, whether they need just a little assistance, or full-time care and we pride ourselves on doing everything possible to enhance our residents’ quality of life.

Castle Dene, our purpose-built care home, is situated on the edge of Bournemouth and therefore benefits from great shopping facilities, lots of local attractions and excellent transport links. In addition, Bournemouth’s sandy beaches and spectacular Coastline make this area an amazing place to live. The amazing facilities on our doorstep mean that there’s plenty to keep you and visiting loved ones busy.

We strive to enable residents to continue to do what they love, whether that’s popping out for a coffee with friends, assisted by a member of our excellent care team, or enjoying activities with visiting loved ones. Nothing is ever too much trouble for us when it comes to the care and comfort of our residents and we always go the extra mile to help residents safely maintain their lifestyle and independence.

We understand that looking for a care home can be a difficult and daunting process, but we want you to know that you are not alone. Please feel free to give us a call or fill out an enquiry form and we will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have, provide you with support throughout the process, or simply give you a better idea of life at Castle Dene.

Castle Dene is dedicated to ensuring our residents are able to get the most out of every day, whilst feeling safe and supported. For us, it’s all about delivering the three F’s – Food, Fun and Friendship – to enable our residents to live a happy and fulfilling lifestyle.

Recreational activities are organised by our activities coordinator(s) to ensure our residents are having fun and making friends, and range from baking and arts and crafts to visits from entertainers and day trips out to local points of interest and attractions. For example, recently residents at Castle Dene have participated in the Great Castle Dene Bake Off, had visits from the local rugby team and A.F.C. Bournemouth, and have even taken a trip down memory lane with some tailored reminiscence therapy activities.

No two residents are the same, and we love to learn about their amazing life stories, hobbies and interests. This helps us to build strong relationships with our residents and allows us to tailor our activities to suit their likes and favourite pastimes. Residents can be as involved as they wish and the activities team work hard to cater for our residents’ recreational desires, enabling them to continue to do the things they love, even if that simply involves sitting down and enjoying a card game or a puzzle.

Please see below for more of the activities that we have been enjoying at Castle Dene recently.

“I love to put a smile on the residents’ faces and feeling like I contributed towards their happiness.” – Castle Dene Chef Ian Berry

Given our mission to provide our residents with the three F’s – Food, Fun and Friendship – mealtimes are very important to us and our residents love coming together to enjoy delicious, nutritious and wholesome meals with their friends.

Our menu is expertly crafted by our talented Chefs, working closely with our Caterings Operations Manager, and is cooked and prepared onsite by our skilled kitchen staff.  We are passionate about providing high-quality food for our residents, therefore, we cater for all of their dietary requirements and meal preferences and always seek to maintain the same high standards when preparing alternative meals. Refreshments are also available for residents throughout the day.

We currently hold a food hygiene rating of 5/5 stars (date of inspection: 15/10/2018) and strive to provide delicious and nutritious, high-quality meals for all of our residents.

Janice Turner – Home Manager

Castle Dene Home Manager Janice Turner

“No two days are the same at Castle Dene, which makes being here so interesting. Talking to our residents, finding out about their stories and what makes them smile, to see the joy that can be brought about each day by one small gesture of kindness, it is so rewarding and fulfilling.

I’ve worked in the care profession for more than 40 years – although I’m not sure where all the years have gone! I believe in creating a homely, happy atmosphere for residents, their families, and the staff team.”
