Maiden Castle House was designed with resident’s ease and comfort in mind and we believe we have created a homely atmosphere for residents to enjoy, with a little extra support.
We have a number of spacious and charmingly furnished communal lounges, overlooking our bright and colourful courtyard, providing residents with a lovely area to relax in comfort with a cup of tea and a slice of cake, or socialise with friends and loved ones. Residents also have full use of our on-site hair salon.
Maiden Castle House has 66 welcoming and comfortable, fully furnished rooms, all of which have en-suite facilities containing a w/c and a washbasin. Every room also contains a 24-hour nurse call bell, ensuring residents are comfortable, safe and expertly cared for. We give all our residents support and peace of mind, whether they need just a little assistance, or full-time care and we pride ourselves on doing everything possible to enhance our residents’ quality of life.
Situated in a residential neighbourhood in the county town of Dorchester, we are perfectly located to benefit from the local shops and services, that are just minutes away, in the town centre. This enables residents to continue to do what they love, whether that’s popping out for a coffee with friends, assisted by a member of our excellent care team, or enjoying activities with visiting loved ones, such as trips to local museums and landmarks. Nothing is ever too much trouble for us when it comes to the care and comfort of our residents and we always go the extra mile to help residents safely maintain their lifestyle and independence.
We understand that looking for a care home can be a difficult and daunting process, but we want you to know that you are not alone. Please feel free to give us a call or fill out an enquiry form and we will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have, provide you with support throughout the process, or simply give you a better idea of life at Maiden Castle House.
Maiden Castle House is dedicated to ensuring our residents are able to get the most out of every day, whilst feeling safe and supported. For us, it’s all about delivering the three F’s –Food, Fun and Friendship– to enable our residents to live a happy and fulfilling lifestyle.
Recreational activities are organised by our activities coordinator(s) to ensure our residents are having fun and making friends, and range from baking and arts and crafts to visits from entertainers and day trips out to local points of interest and attractions.
No two residents are the same, and we love to learn about their amazing life stories, hobbies and interests. This helps us to build strong relationships with our residents and allows us to tailor our activities to suit their likes and favourite pastimes. Residents can be as involved as they wish and the activities team work hard to cater for our residents’ recreational desires, enabling them to continue to do the things they love, even if that simply involves sitting down and enjoying a card game or a puzzle.
We also host a number of community group activities, such as the ‘Knit and Natter Club’ and ‘TeaAt3’, which bring residents together and help to improve their physical and mental wellbeing.
Please see below for some of the activities that we have been enjoying at Maiden Castle House recently.

Rachel Sohorye – Home Manager
“My passion is dementia care and I’m constantly challenging myself and my team to come up with innovative ways of enhancing the lives of Maiden Castle House residents.
We take real pride in our home and I’m a firm believer in involving people in decisions and never asking anyone to do something that I wouldn’t be prepared to do myself. The home can run without a manager, but it cannot run without our care and support staff.”
Although we aren’t able to offer visits to our care homes just yet, you are more than welcome to view our homes via our remote tours.
To protect our staff and residents, our helpful Home Managers are happy to guide you around our homes with a video call, so that you can get a feel for what life is like at Maiden Castle House.
