Ice cream trolley brings summer fun to Kenwith Castle residents

Residents at Kenwith Castle have been enjoying a taste of summer as an ice cream trolley makes its way around the home.
The residents at the care home in Bideford, which is run by not-for-profit charity Care South, have been treated to a selection of delicious ice cream flavours, finished with a choice of toppings. The care home’s Activities Team has been on hand to serve up the tasty treats.

The trolley travels around Kenwith Castle accompanied by cheerful music, stopping at residents’ rooms and communal areas to offer everyone the chance to enjoy a refreshing treat.

The initiative has been particularly uplifting for residents who are unable to, or prefer not to, leave their rooms, bringing the ice cream experience straight to their doors and putting a smile on their faces.

The ice cream trolley is the latest activity organised by Kenwith Castle’s dedicated Activities team, which has also included visits from two friendly donkeys and a pony, gardening, crafts and trips out on the minibus.

“It has been wonderful to see the smiles the ice cream trolley has brought to our residents, especially during the hot, sunny weather that we have had this summer. The cheerful music, delicious flavours and friendly service from our Activities team have created such a lovely atmosphere around the home. It’s a great example of how little things can make a big difference to the residents’ day.”
