As part of Nutrition and Hydration Week, residents at Maiden Castle House care home have been participating in creative food and drink activities designed to promote health and well-being. Since its inception in March 2012, Nutrition and Hydration Week has aimed to unite people and educate them on the importance of food and drink in maintaining overall health within health and social care settings.

One of the week’s highlights was today’s activity—making fruit kebabs—which was met with great enthusiasm. The vibrant rainbow of colours and the diverse selection of healthy fruits provided a delightful sensory experience. The activity was especially enjoyable and engaging for residents living with dementia.

Chef Rich emphasized the critical role of nutrition and hydration, stating, “The importance of food and hydration cannot be understated. Maintaining a balanced diet and healthy fluid intake supports weight management, bodily functions, and cognitive health, which is particularly significant in dementia care.”

This initiative reflects Maiden Castle House’s commitment to an ethos of fun, food, and friendship.
