Marjorie House Raises a Cup for Macmillan Cancer Support
On Friday, 26 September, residents and staff at Marjorie House proudly came together to host our annual Macmillan Coffee Morning, raising awareness and support for the incredible work of Macmillan Cancer Support. The morning was full of laughter, community spirit, and delicious homemade treats — all in aid of a cause close to many hearts.
A Morning of Coffee, Cake and Kindness
Our talented Executive Chef, Patrick, went above and beyond to create a mouth-watering selection of homemade cakes, each beautifully presented and enjoyed with a comforting cup of tea or coffee. From classic sponges to rich chocolate bakes, there was something for everyone — and plenty of second helpings too!
Residents, staff, and visitors gathered together to share in the joy of good food and good company, filling the room with warmth and conversation.
Fun, Friendship and Fundraising
Alongside the cakes, there was a full programme of fun activities, including quizzes, word searches, and a lively game of true or false, which brought plenty of laughter and friendly competition. It was lovely to see everyone joining in, cheering each other on, and celebrating the spirit of community that defines life at Marjorie House.
There were also moments of reflection as we took time to learn more about Macmillan Cancer Support’s vital work — helping individuals and families affected by cancer through care, advice, and compassion.
A Shared Effort for a Meaningful Cause
The Macmillan Coffee Morning is a highlight of our year, and once again, it was heartwarming to see so many people come together to make it such a success. The generosity and enthusiasm of everyone involved truly reflected our Care South values of Food, Fun and Friendship.
Every slice of cake shared and every quiz question answered helped make a difference — raising awareness and showing support for those touched by cancer.

Thank You from Marjorie House
A big thank you to Chef Patrick for his delicious bakes, to our dedicated team for organising the event, and to all our residents and families for joining in with such enthusiasm.
It was a wonderful morning of connection, compassion, and community — and a reminder that small acts of kindness, shared over coffee and cake, can make a big difference.
