Baby chickens delight residents at Alexandra House

21st May 2019

Alexandra House was delighted to welcome four baby chickens to the home for a visit. Everyone eagerly awaited their arrival and were not disappointed when they arrived. The four chickens were curious and spent time looking around their new surroundings whilst residents used books to try and identify the different sorts of chickens that they were. Once the chicks had settled down, it was then time for the residents to get hands on and hold the chickens, with many commenting on how soft their feathers were.

The visit prompted lots of memories for all the residents but especially Doreen whose Dad used to breed chickens. She told us all how they would have special heated areas and would have to hold them in warm hands when it was cold to hatch the baby chicks.
