Carers in Care South’s homes have been going the extra mile for residents who have been celebrating milestone birthdays recently.
A number of residents have been marking their 100th and 101st birthdays, including Muriel, who was treated like a Queen at Fremington Manor in Barnstaple after receiving a special card from the monarch.
Everyone, including her fellow residents at the residential and nursing home, chipped in to make it a special day.
Muriel was also delighted to spend her birthday with her family through the home’s conservatory window.
Meanwhile it was great to see such a big smile on Hilda’s face as she celebrated turning 101 years young! She was surrounded by her friends at Sussexdown in Storrington, West Sussex and was treated to a gorgeous-looking cake make at the care home.
She loved the carers’ rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’ so much that she insisted on an encore.
When Kathleen, a resident at Elizabeth House in Poole, was asked what it feels like to be 101, she replied: “No different to being 100 really!”
Kathleen marked the occasion in style with an afternoon cream tea, washed down by Bucks Fizz and – her favourite – a glass or two of sherry.
