Mayor visits St Martins Grange to wish a happy birthday
Gillingham Mayor Barry Von Clemens visited St Martins Grange care home to wish resident Molly a happy birthday.
Molly, who turned 100, was joined by her family for the special occasion. Staff also organised a party with London-themed songs to celebrate her heritage.
Originally from Bermondsey, London, she was a chorus girl at the Windmill Theatre, where she met her husband. She then went on to work in a number of shops. Her husband was in the Navy, meaning the family moved around the country.
Molly son, Barry, 79, said she loves meeting people and described her as being “full of life” and having a “wicked sense of humour”. He added she loved anything to do with music, her favourite singer being Bing Crosby.
