Queensmead residents learn more about the Titanic on trip
Queensmead residents have been learning more about the history of the titanic thanks to a day out.
They visited the Sea City Museum in Southampton, the city from which the ship set off on its ill-fated voyage.
The trip proved extremely interesting for the residents. Highlights included seeing pictures of the ship’s crew and learning about their lives, as well as seeing copies of telegrams warning about icebergs.
Residents were able to hear the accounts of people discovering the titanic had sank and stories from survivors.
The exhibition also had a courtroom set up so care home residents could hear parts of the investigation into how the incident tragic incident occurred.
After their trip to the museum, residents and staff enjoyed a picnic in Southampton, before returning to the Christchurch home.
