Residents make tasty treats ahead of Christmas

24th December 2019

Residents have been busy baking lots of festive food to help get in the festive spirit.

From mince pies and Christmas cakes, to gingerbread houses, everyone has been getting involved.

At Queensmead care home in Christchurch, residents enjoyed putting together and decorating gingerbread houses, as this was something they had not done before.

Activities organiser Lesley Wheal said: “We had a good laugh attempting to put our houses together and they may look like they have subsidence but they have remained upright so far!”

The residents have also been busy making Christmas cakes for the big day, which brought back many happy childhood memories. They reminisced about making these cakes with their mums and how they made a wish as they stirred the mixture, putting sixpences into the Christmas puddings and nearly breaking a tooth if you were luckily enough to find one!

Residents at Alexandra House in Poole, Fremington Manor in Barnstaple and Kenwith Castle in Bideford have also been busy making plenty of mince pies.
