Residents at Alexandra House care home in Poole took a trip down memory lane to mark World Alzheimer’s Day.
Staff at the care home set up a number of interactive zones for residents to explore as they went back in time to their childhood years.
Reminiscence therapy has been shown to benefit people living with dementia as the condition can affect a person’s sense of identity. Carers actively encourage reminiscing about positive memories through a range of activities.
Similarly, Fremington Manor care home in Barnstaple held a morning of music reminiscence in the conservatory. Resident Anne recalled visiting Tommy Steele at the theatre, being a huge fan. Lots of toe tapping and hand clapping fun!
